PMA Presents Waiters' Race 2013
ON YOUR MARK … GET SET … GO!!!
The Princeton Merchants Association presents
Waiters Race on Thursday, July 11, 2013
(PRINCETON, NJ) -- On Thursday, July 11, 2013, local waitstaff will put their tray-balancing skills to the test at the Waiters’ Race, an event organized by the Princeton Merchants Association. The event kicks off at 3:30pm at Princeton Shopping Center, 301 North Harrison Street. (There is no rain date for this event)
Waiters and waitresses from Princeton restaurants will race to complete a course while balancing two full glasses, one of champagne and one of wine, PLUS two full water bottles on their trays. The competition is shaping up to be fierce!
The restaurants participating to date include: Blue Point Grill, Main Street Bistro and Cafe, Yankee Doodle Tap Room, Triumph Brewing Company, Witherspoon Grill, Agricola, Mediterra and Eno Terra with many more to come!
The fastest racers - who don't spill their teetering cargo - will take home the following:
1st Place: $250 cash, weekend overnight stay at the Nassau Inn, bottle of champagne, Ace Hardware cooler, 2 x $25 gift cards to local restaurants, $50 Hamilton Jewelers gift card, La Jolie Salon & Spa gift card.
2nd Place: $150 cash, bottle of champagne, Ace Hardware cooler, 2 x $25 gift cards to local restaurants.
3rd Place: $75 Cash, bottle of champagne, Ace Hardware cooler, 2x $25 gift cards to local restaurants.
“Last year was very exciting,” notes Carly Meyer, President of the Princeton Merchants Association. “To see hundreds of spectators cheering on their favorite waiters and waitresses. It was also great to see the comaraderie between the competing restaurants.”
“This year the race will take place at a different location. We always had the intention to rotate between Palmer Square and Princeton Shopping Center Courtyard,” explains Meyer. “I think the new venue will work out very well and will be a good way to connect with the community.”
Waiters needing to get from downtown to the Shopping Center won’t have to worry about transportation. The FreeB Shuttle will be offering a ride there and back. “We are grateful to the Princeton Municipality for adding a stop on the route for the event,” says Jack Morrison. Pick up will be at 3:15pm at Hinds Plaza, with a drop-off back to Hinds Plaza at 5:15pm.
Sponsors this year include Princeton Arts Council, Princeton University Store, Joycards, Agricola , Ace Hardware, Triumph Brewing Co, Terra Momo, PNC Bank, Bank of Princeton, Craft Cleaners, Yankee Doodle Tap Room, McCaffrey’s, Main Street Bistro, La Jolie Salon & Spa, Witherspoon Grill, Blue Point Grill and Road ID.
